The earliest metal handicraft in China is a bronze handicraft unearthed from the ruins of the middle part of the Neolithic culture, such as the Ma Jia Yao culture, the Da Wen mouth culture and the later Qiao family culture. Gold craftwork appeared in the Shang Dynasty. During the Warring States period, there were many kinds of metal materials combined with metal and non-metallic materials (jade, colored glaze) made of handicrafts. The Han Dynasty could produce exquisite gold and silver wire knitted, stacked and inlaid products. The Tang Dynasty was the heyday of metal handicrafts, especially silver handicrafts, and created a gold and silver chisel chisel technology with relief effect. In the song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, because of the progress of smelting technology and the increase of metal materials, the metal crafts have developed greatly. There are not only a variety of metal and various materials and crafts, but also a variety of crafts. Ancient Chinese famous metal handicrafts include bronze ware of Shang Dynasty, gold and silver of Warring States, bronze mirrors and jewelry of Tang Dynasty, Xuan de stove in Ming Dynasty and cloisonne in Qing Dynasty. In the 70~80 years of twentieth Century, aluminum alloy, titanium, platinum and other metal crafts appeared, and the new technology of corrosion lacquer, titanium cathode oxidation coloring and negative oxygen ion plating were innovated. China’s metal handicrafts, such as Tibet, Mongolia, Miao and other minorities, are also famous. Production organizations in different historical periods are also different. In ancient times, metal handicrafts were mostly enjoyed by the nobility and aristocrats, especially precious metal handicrafts, which were monopolized by the palace handicraft industry. In the Tang Dynasty, because of the development of metal materials, folk production appeared. There was a silver shop in the Song Dynasty. The Yuan Dynasty’s folk production of silverware increased. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the two generation of folk metal handicraft was flourishing. The main form was the silver shop of the front shop and the factory. After 1950s, it was produced by factories and distributed by commercial departments.
